The engine kill switch or main ignition switch is turned off. 2. Battery voltage is low or the battery terminals are loose or corroded. The battery must be in good condition and fully charged before troubleshooting the starter. Check and clean the battery terminals and/or recharge the battery. 3. Make sure the wiring to the starter is tight at the mounting stud and free from corrosion, then check the starter motor. 4. Starter button is not making contact. The contacts could be wet, corroded or dirty. Disassemble and clean the switch. 5. Wiring is open or shorted. Check all wiring connections and wiring harness to make sure they are clean, dry and tight. Also check for broken or frayed wires that can cause a short to ground. 6. Ignition switch is defective; check and replace if required. 7. Engine kill switch is defective. Check for wet, or dirty contact. Clean or replace the switch as necessary.
